Globe and Smart prepaid loads are now valid for one year

National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at the start of the year passed Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 05-12-2017, compelling Smart and Globe to extend the validity of all prepaid loads to one year. Today, the two telcos expressed their agreement and compliance with the said memorandum.

Globe and Smart prepaid load

Starting today, July 5, 2018, both Smart and Globe prepaid loads, in all denominations, will now have one-year validity. Globe starting implementing this policy with their 300 pesos and above prepaid loads last January 6, but now they’re bringing it to the lower than 300 pesos denominations.Smart, on the other hand, will also extend the load validity of their subnetworks Sun and TNT. This includes all load denominations of Smart Prepaid, Smart Bro, TNT, Sun Prepaid, Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid, Smart Link, Smart Marino, PLDT Prepaid Landline Plus and PLDT Home.

Like Globe, Smart also implemented this policy for their over 300 pesos and above loads back in January. So, today they’ll be adding in the lower than 300 pesos denominations.Earlier today - June 5, 2018, Globe Communications PR Team state that all Globe Prepaid load, including denominations below 300 pesos will now officially carry a one year expiration period, which is definitely great news for all of their subscribers.

This announcement reflects Globe's full compliance with the Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 05-12-2017 issued jointly by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), which effectively extends the validity of all prepaid load to an entire year.If you remember, back in January 6, 2018, Globe Telecom and Smart Communications started implementing the one year prepaid load expiration period -- but only for denominations worth PHP 300 pesos and above. Effective today - July 5, 2018, all denominations of Globe Prepaid load - no matter how small - will get the same extended validity period.

It took Globe half a year to fully comply with the said Memorandum Circular -- but the good thing is that they've finally committed to implementing it. As the old adage goes, better late than never. To quote Globe Telecom, "We are grateful to the NTC, DICT, and DTI for giving us ample time to prepare for the smooth and seamless implementation of the extension of the expiration period across all denominations."
