MediaTek Helio P90 the flagship AI chip set to launch on December 13

MediaTek just teased the upcoming Helio P90 SoC on Twitter, . It could be the company's next premium processor. MediaTek has officially introduced its new Helio P70 through the launch of the Realme U1 – the first smartphone to boast the said chipset.

Based on its naming convention, the Helio P90 should be more powerful than the newly launched Helio P70 found on the Realme U1. The company didn’t state any specifications of the chipset but in their Twitter post, they stated that the Helio P90 will have a powerful, efficient, and “Groundbreaking AI” technology.

MediaTek's General Manager for Wireless Communication also revealed that it will be significantly better and not just an iterative upgrade versus the newly launched Helio P70 SoC. While everyone thought that the company will dub its next chip as the Helio P80, the brand decided to jump to Helio P90 to highlight that it is “significantly better and not just an iterative upgrade of the Helio P70.”

There are also reports stating that there is a lower-end chip dubbed as the P80. The P80 was beaten only by the Snapdragon 8150. Most likely, it will be the company's top of the line processor for 2019. It is safe to assume that it will match the likes of the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 series. 

MediaTek also teased that the P90 will be “Powerful. Efficient. Groundbreaking AI.” Moreover, they claimed that it set to change everything. However, the first waves of the P90-powered smartphones are expected to arrive in the Q2 2019.

The company revealed that the upcoming Helio P90 will take its spotlight in Shenzhen, China on December 13.
