Samsung Galaxy A8s now Official, comes with Infinity-O display

Samsung has officially launched its first smartphone to boast an Infinity-O display – the Galaxy A8s. A few hours after the Honor View 20 announcement, Samsung launched their own smartphone with an In-Screen selfie camera. The Infinity-O display aims to produce a better screen-to-body ratio while enabling to hide the sensor components under the display.

Samsung Galaxy A8s Now Official

What’s new about the Samsung Galaxy A8s is the Infinity-O display with a small cut-out for the in-display camera – just like the Honor View20. Honor is the first to announce a smartphone with In-Screen selfie camera, but Samsung is the first to fully launch a smartphone with the said technology.

The Samsung Galaxy A8s features a big 6.4-inch Super AMOLED panel with Full HD+ 2340 x 1080 resolution with a hole found in the top corner of the display to house the selfie camera. Because of the Infinity-O display, the Galaxy A8s has very thin side bezels.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A8s carries a Snapdragon 710 chipset complemented with Adreno 616 graphics. It can be coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, making sure that it can handle heavy activities such as gaming and multitasking. Powering up the device, on the other hand, is a 3400mAh battery.

In the camera department, the Galaxy A8s is mounted with triple rear cameras composed of a 24-megapixel f/1.7 main sensor, 10-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto lens, and 5-megapixel f/2.2 depth sensor. The handset features a 24MP f/2.0 selfie shooter with face unlock.

The Samsung Galaxy A8s also has dual SIM slots and several sensors like gravity sensor, distance sensor, and light sensor. It loads with Samsung Experience 9.5 skin based on Android 8.1 OS, and support for the new generation Bixby. It measures at 158.4 x 74.9 x 7.4 mm and weighs 173 grams.

It is also the first Samsung smartphone with no 3.5mm headphone jack slot. The headphone can now be plugged in the charging port. The device will be available in gradient color variants – Blue, Gray, and Green.

The Samsung Galaxy A8s can be pre-ordered beginning December 21 in China. Meanwhile, there’s no word yet about its official pricing and global availability. So, stay tuned for more updates.
