Foldable Motorola RAZR images appear to have leaked out, might be launching soon

We know that Motorola is working on a RAZR foldable phone, but there's not much else known about the phone save for some patent drawings that've shown a bit of the design. Today more of Motorola's foldable may have been revealed.

New renders that claim to show the foldable Motorola RAZR have leaked out. The images were originally posted to Weibo, but that post appears to have been deleted. The renders are still circulating and have appeared on SlashLeaks which has revealed a series of new images of the upcoming device, include shots of a striking triangular prism-shaped box, plus a glimpse at the contents that will reportedly come packaged inside it.

Motorola has emerged as the closest competitor to Samsung and Huawei in the foldable smartphone game. It’s been rumoured since last year that the Lenovo-owned iconic brand will unveil a handset with a bendable display sometime this year with a reboot of the Motorola RAZR series. Also, previous leaks have hinted that its design would be a departure from what Samsung or Huawei have been doing up till now.

They show the new Razr model with flexible display and its packaging. Whether or not these pictures are genuine, remains to bee seen. Reports in February suggested that Motorola intends to relaunch the classic RAZR phone as an (expensive) foldable screen device in the summer. It was later confirmed by a Motorola manager.

Motorola might have opted for a candy bar form factor with a supposed 6.2-inch display sporting a 22:9 aspect ratio and a rather chunky noticeable bottom bezel. So, when the top half bends completely, it will be level with the bulge at the bottom.

The notch above is also visible and houses the in-ear speaker. While the renders are low on resolution, the bottom chin seemingly integrates a speaker, which should work in tandem with the earpiece. Flipping the v to its outside, there’s a secondary display which isn’t very visible in this render. This is supposed to serve functions of quick interaction.

Some accessories of the handset can also be seen along with the packaging in the leaked renders, it appears the box will contain a charging dock, a power adapter, a USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable, a 3.5mm dongle (suggesting there'll be no headphone jack on the actual device), a pair of earbuds and, of course, the Motorola Razr itself.

While the upcoming Razr is expected to boast a cutting-edge foldable display, it's believed it won't pack flagship specs, instead featuring a midrange Snapdragon 710 chip and a middling amount of RAM and the Motorola RAZR is likely to skip the headphone jack.

There’s still no official launch date for the Motorola RAZR yet but we’re expecting a launch in mid-2019.
