Samsung Galaxy A70S to come with a 64MP main camera

A couple of months back, Samsung launched the Galaxy A70 smartphone which comes with a 32MP front-facing camera. Now, the company is planning to release world’s first Smartphone equipped with 64MP camera sometime during the second half of 2019.

Samsung Electronics is trying to improve Smartphone camera one step further by combining super-small and super-high quality image sensor and its competitive edge. As per the reports, the smartphone will come with Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright GW1, a 64MP sensor with 0.8μm pixel size.

It uses the Samsung's Tetracell technology and remosaic algorithm to merge pixels into a 16MP output with increased details in daylight and low light scenarios. It also comes with Dual Conversion Gain (DCG) and Super PD phase detection focus tech.

Announced earlier this month, the new ISOCELL Bright GW1 is a 64MP camera sensor that offers the highest resolution so far for the smartphone. It comes with pixel-merging Tetracell technology and remosaic algorithm that offers 16MP images in low-light environments where four pixels are merged to work as one to increase light sensitivity.

It also supports real-time high dynamic range (HDR) of up to 100-decibels (dB) that provides richer hues. The sensor is equipped with a Dual Conversion Gain (DCG) that converts the received light into an electric signal.

This allows the sensor to optimize its full well capacity (FWC), utilizing the collected light more efficiently especially in bright environments. It also supports 480fps Full HD slow-motion filming and will have High Dynamic Range, as well as support for Super PD — a high-performance phase detection auto-focus technology.

Other details about the phone are still unknown, but we can expect the A70S to feature better specs than the current A70 with 6.7-inch FHD+ 20:9 AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 675 chip, and 4,500mAh battery.

If it will really use the new 64MP sensor, we can also expect this alleged upcoming phone to produce better images than the 32MP of Galaxy A70.
