After over a month of speculation, it seems that consumers finally have a glimpse of what the rumoured Galaxy Fold 2 looks like. A working prototype of what seems to be the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 has surfaced on the Chinese social media website Weibo.

Uploaded by @UniverseIce on Twitter, it reveals that Samsung could be working on a vertical folding design for the Galaxy Fold 2, where it sports a clamshell design that unfolds to become a regular-looking smartphone. Despite the absence of a Samsung logo, the icons shown on the display suggests that it could be one. The interface is evidently the skinned version of Android found on modern Galaxy series handsets.

While there are no official specs disclosed by Samsung as of yet, there are a few things we can infer from the working unit. The hinge they used appears to be the same as the original Galaxy Fold, which means that the crease is still present in the second version.

Unlike the original Galaxy Fold, which had six cameras at its disposal, the Galaxy Fold 2 appears to only have three – dual rear cameras and a single front camera using the punch-hole design. Looking at the prototype, Samsung also ditched the secondary display in place of a time and notification display.

Other features spotted on the photos is a volume rocker on the right side of the upper section of the clamshell handset. A closer inspection reveals what might be the power button, speculated to house the fingerprint scanner. There is no word on when the Galaxy Fold 2 will be launched, but hopefully we’ll have more details about that soon.
