iPhone 12 to support BeiDou navigation system

The upcoming iPhone 12 from Apple is reported to support the BeiDou Satellite Navigation System.
Apple and the iPhone line, in particular, has never had an easy relationship with the Chinese market. It might finally change with the introduction of the iPhone 12 family. BeiDou spokesperson and director of the China Satellite Navigation Office, Ran Chengqi, mentioned in an interview that : “Apple will use the BeiDou navigation system sooner or later…”.

According to a report by IThome, Apple has already debugged the performance of the iPhone 12 series including a compatibility test for Beidou navigation. Apple will also announce on its official website the support for the Beidou satellite navigation system after the iPhone 12 series’ launch.

Beidou satellite navigation system spokesperson and director of the China Satellite Navigation Office Ran Chengqi said that Apple will use the Beidou navigation system sooner or later “because if the Beidou system is easy to use, they will, of course, use better navigation system.”

Currently, the iPhone 11 series support the following GPS receivers: A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, and QZSS. At present, Beidou satellite navigation system services cover more than 200 countries and regions, with more than 100 million users and more than 200 million daily services.

In addition, Beidou satellite navigation system products have been exported to more than 120 countries and regions, serving hundreds of millions of users. The services based on the Beidou system have been successfully applied to the fields of surveying and mapping, agriculture, and digital construction in the member states of ASEAN, South Asia, Eastern Europe, West Asia and Africa.
