Samsung Galaxy X Foldable Smartphone Will Launch Later this Year 2018

Samsung has been working on a foldable smartphone for almost five years. The company even released a concept video in 2013 of what the foldable smartphone might look like. But now, it's look like that the rumors about a folding Galaxy Android smartphone by Samsung have been circulating the web will come true. We finally heard official word from the Korean Giant on that product's forthcoming launch.

Samsung Galaxy X Foldable Smartphone Will Launch this Year 2018

Samsung CEO - DJ Koh talked to CNBC and disclosed that, within 2018, the company will definitely launch their first ever foldable smartphone, which will be called as Samsung Galaxy X. Although Mr. Koh didn't talk about specific features of the device but he hinted that the model will look like a smartphone when folded and that it will have a form factor similar to a tablet when unraveled. He was also quick to note that the experience that users will get from the new device will be different from your typical slate.

To quote Mr. Koh, "When you need to browse or see something, then you may need to unfold it. But even unfolded, what kind of benefit does that give compared to the tablet? If the unfolded experience is the same as the tablet, why would you buy it?"

Aside from the name of the product, many tech bloggers around the world are also speculating that the Galaxy X will be an extension of the Korean Giant's popular Galaxy Note Series and as such, it will also support Stylus input through the S-Pen -- making it a truly enticing offer for users in the creative field.

One of the key characteristics of Samsung's SuperAMOLED Display is that it can be folded and unfolded without damage. Personally, I agree with tech experts and insiders who are saying that this much-awaited smartphone will have just one big SuperAMOLED screen that can be folded right in the middle.

Samsung's decision to release a foldable Android smartphone came in the face of growing stiff competition from smartphone popular brands like Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO, and Vivo.
