Turning on your phone’s mobile data is one way to activate your Smart SIM. Just insert your new Smart SIM card into the SIM slot of your smartphone and then turn on mobile data. Open your browser and go to the Smart website.

Sometimes, Smart will immediately recognize that your SIM has connected to its data network and send you a welcome text message. Turning on your phone’s mobile data is one way to activate your Smart SIM. Right after you receive the message, your SIM is activated. You can now start using your free 300MB data for surfing the internet. To get an additional 700MB data, don’t forget to top-up at least P30.

If you have turned on your phone’s mobile data and that doesn’t work, you can make a balance inquiry to activate your Smart SIM. Open your messaging app, type ?1515, and send to 214. The message is free of charge. An SMS will be sent to your smartphone with information about your remaining balance and data. Once you receive the message, your SIM will be activated shortly.

If sending a message doesn’t work either, try dialing 143#. This is your prepaid account’s Smart USD code that you can use to check your balance and subscribe to prepaid load promotions. Open your smartphone, dial *143#, go to Balance/Services > Check Balance. You will be able to see your balance in real-time. You will also receive a text message from Smart welcoming you to the network.

While on the Smart website, dialing *214# is recommended, the USSD code no longer works.

Another way you can check your load balance as well as activating your Smart SIM is calling 1515. You will hear an automated response. After that, a text message will be sent to your smartphone with your balance information. Once you receive a welcome message, your SIM is activated.

However, the service isn’t free though. For each successful call, you will be charged P1. So we don’t recommend using this method over the ones we have mentioned above. Only use this one if the other ones don’t work. Make sure you have at least P1 in your balance.
