GCash enables you to perform almost any transaction with just a few taps on your smartphone. You can use it to buy load, send money, pay bills and more. It's one of the most popular digital wallets in the Philippines today. Do you have extra prepaid load that you no longer need? Maybe you want to exchange that load for cash!
Is it really possible to transfer or convert your prepaid load to GCash funds? The short answer is no, you can’t convert load to GCash – at least on the GCash app. GCash used to offer users the ability to turn Globe prepaid load to GCash funds way back in 2016. It involved by visiting a now-defunct website (www.mgcash.globe.com.ph) and entering your phone number and the load amount that you wanted to convert.

Many things have changed since then and the vast majority of GCash users are now using the mobile app which doesn’t have the feature to convert or transfer prepaid load to GCash. However, there are a few other options for converting your unused load to GCash, which we'll go through in this article.
How to Convert Regular Load to GCash
To answer your question, converting load into GCash was possible before. All you had to do was download the GCash app, create an account, and log in. Then, you select “Cash in,” choose “Prepaid Load to Gcash,” and select the desired amount. After confirming this amount, an SMS notification would arrive, indicating a successful transaction. That’s it!
Unfortunately, today, this feature is NOT available anymore. Due to fraudulent activities related to the conversion of load into GCash balance, the feature was discontinued since February 2017. That being said, even though converting load to GCash is no longer possible, there is another option that you can consider.
You can sell load to other users, and rather than paying you in cash, you can ask them to transfer money to your GCash account instead. This is possible through Globe’s “Share-a-Load” feature as well as Smart’s “Pasaload” feature.
The key is to offer your prepaid load at a much cheaper price than buying it on the GCash app. For instance, you can sell your ₱100 load for only ₱80. This will persuade them to accept your offer because it saves them money.
Convert Globe Load to GCash
You can sell your Globe prepaid load to another Globe or Touch Mobile (TM) user through a process called “Share-a-Load.” This involves a charge of PHP 1 for every transaction. There are two ways to share your load: via *143# or via SMS.
A. Share-a-Load via *143#
To share your load using this method, just follow these steps:
- Dial *143# on your mobile phone.
- Press “0” to select My Account from the menu.
- Press “3” to select Share-a-Load/Promo/MB.
- Choose from the following options:
- -Share Load without PIN
- -Share Load with PIN
- -Share Promo without PIN
- -Share Promo with PIN
- Enter the load amount and the 10-digit mobile number of your recipient. Don’t forget to replace the first digit “0” with “2.”
B. Share-a-Load via SMS
Meanwhile, sharing your load via SMS involves two options: with PIN or without PIN. Here are the steps for each option:
With PIN
Open your mobile phone’s text application, enter the amount, PIN, and send to 2 + 10-digit mobile number. For example, if you are sending PHP 100 load to the number 09164673202, just type 100 1495, and send to 29161234567.
Without PIN
Open your mobile phone’s text application, enter the amount and send to 2 + 10-digit mobile number. For example, simply type 100, and send to 29161234567.
For both the above options, after sending the text message, you will receive an SMS confirmation asking if you want to proceed with the transaction. Reply “YES” to proceed, and your load will be transferred within 5 minutes.
Convert Smart Load to GCash
Just like Globe, you can sell your Smart prepaid load to another Smart user through a process called “Pasaload.” This involves a minimum charge of PHP 2 per transaction.
To share your load via this feature, simply open your mobile phone’s text application. Type PASALOAD<11-digit number> and send to 808. For example, if you are sending PHP 100 load to the number 09207654321, just type PASALOAD 09207654321 100, and send to 808. That’s it!

It’s really unfortunate that GCash has turned off the ability to transfer or convert your Globe prepaid load to GCash funds. As mentioned earlier, rather than taking cash as payment from your recipients, you can ask them to transfer money to your GCash account instead. Just offer your prepaid load at a much cheaper price than buying it on the GCash app.
Although this is not exactly the same as directly “converting” prepaid load into GCash, it’s still a good way of earning money through rebates when you sell load to Globe, TM, Smart, and other users.
