The Tax Identification Number (TIN) ID Card is a government-issued identification card recognized as one of the valid IDs in the Philippines. Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) now has an online system where self-employed individuals can get their Tax Identification Number (TIN) online thru eREG website.


BIR ’s online facility called eREGISTRATION or eREG is an online TIN number application system providing taxpayer registration services at the comfort of their home. It is the easiest and fastest way to get TIN online a.k.a. Tax ID Number. The BIR eREG has cool features where applicants can apply for issuance of TIN, issuance of Certification of Registration and payment process for registration.

Getting your TIN number is FREE. TIN number should be unique for each individual. It means only one TIN number per individual is allowed by law. Make sure that you haven’t received a TIN number before because having multiple or getting more than one TIN number will be subjected for investigation by the government.

But, take note that this online application can only cater to Self-employed individuals such as Single Proprietors and Professionals, and Mixed Income Earners. Other than those purposes, you should apply directly in a BIR office that covers your location. Here are the requirements to get your eTIN online:

  • Individuals who are Self-employed (e.g. Single Proprietors and Professionals) 
  • Individuals who are Mixed Income Earners (e.g. Employee and single proprietor and/or professional at the same time) 
  • Employees 
  • Individuals who are qualified under Executive No. 98 

To apply for TIN number online, you should have a valid email address where you can use to submit the online form that you need to fill out and receive further instructions from eREG. After securing the TIN, single proprietors and professionals are required to pay the registration fee of P500 through Authorized Agent Banks (AAB) located within the BIR Regional District Office (RDO) indicated in the email notification or through the BIR eFPS system.


How to apply for a TIN ID Number Online if you’re Self-employed Individual 2022

To get a TIN number online, you will need to apply for it using the BIR eReg website. Note that you only need to do this registration if and only if you never have registered a TIN before. It is prohibited by law to register more than one TIN. In short, we are only allowed 1 tax ID number for life.

Step 1: Visit the BIR eReg website

Open the BIR eReg website on your personal computer, laptop or mobile device.

Step 2: Fill up the online form.

Enter your basic taxpayer information. Double-check each detail before pressing the Submit button. Make sure every detail you enter is accurate.


Step 3: Wait for an email from the BIR

You’re done. Just wait for an email from the BIR regarding the issuance of your TIN. If the email doesn’t show up in your inbox, you can check the Spam folder.

That’s it! You now have your own TIN number. Be sure to keep a record of your new TIN number as you will need it whenever you gain employment or start a business. Also, don’t forget to pay the registration fee of P500 if you’re a single proprietor or a professional.

Important Note: If you are getting TIN for the purpose of opening bank account and you are not employed or working as a professional at present, it is recommended to get your TIN at your BIR RDO office to avoid some problems. You will need to secure a letter from the bank requesting a TIN number, which you will then give to the BIR RDO officer.
